Music is the Universal Language
My name is Brooklyn, I am 16 years old, I attend Lincoln Park High School, and will be graduating in 2018. I am in the IBCP program under vocal, and I chose to be in this program because I like the structure of it. I like how we choose a path and our classes form around that. Since I was young, I've known that I've always wanted to pursue a career in music, and this program is helping me to achieve that dream. Outside of this program I am a singer/ songwriter, as well as a guitarist (I play both acoustic and electric). In the summer of 2014 I joined the singing group HHW Vocal Arts Ensemble, and we are a school without walls. There I have developed my skills in singing, as well as knowing how to sing. We travel around Chicago, and sometimes outside to perform. My most memorable performance was when the South African delegates came to visit, heard us, and nearly cried. It is moments like these that makes me appreciate the power of music.
As a junior in high school this is my year to find a future profession of interest, as well as start looking for colleges that suits me best. I know for sure that I want to do something music related, but I also have a love for chemistry and helping people, so I've concluded that I wanted to double major in music therapy and chemistry. I don't know whether or not I will stick to these professions, and I also don't know what college I will be attending in the future, but I do now that being in the IBCP program will help me greatly. 6/12/2017 *Update* I am currently 17 years old and am upon my final days as a junior at Lincoln Park. |
